矯正治療後上の前歯が突然痛みだし、歯医者に行ったところ歯の神経が3本死んでいると言われました。

3年の矯正治療を終え、歯の戻りを防ぐマウスピースをして1年ほど経ちます。1年前に、上の前歯が突然痛みだし、歯医者に行ったところ歯の神経が3本死んでいると言われました。
特に痛みが強かった1本だけ神経を抜く治療をし、他は様子を見るとの事でした。そして最近、再度調べた所、上の前歯が更に2本死んでいました。計5本です。
この歳でこんなに神経が死んでしまっていて、これから先また増えるんじゃないかと、とても不安です。先生には、矯正で無理やり動かした事は関係あるかもしれないが、それだけが原因とは言いきれない。と言われました。何年か後に影響は出るかもしれないが、すぐに神経を抜く必要はないから一旦様子見、との事でしたが、このまま様子見で良いのでしょうか？

まず、神経が死んでしまった原因ですが…通常、歯列矯正が原因になる確率はとても低いと思われます。私も二十数年歯科医師をやっておりますが、明らかに「矯正のせいで神経が死んだ」というものは見た記憶がありません。
歯に強い力•衝撃が加わると、神経が死んでしまうことはあります。もちろん歯列矯正ではある程度動かす力は加わるわけですが、通常そのようなことが起こるほどの力を矯正で加えることはあまりないはずです。最後まで原因が分からない症例というのはありますが…一番多いのは、「過去の外傷」です。思い返してみていただいて、前歯付近に強い衝撃が加わるような経験…ご記憶ありませんでしょうか。または、歯が明確にすり減るほどの歯軋りなどご自覚ありませんか。
いずれにせよ、神経を取る取らないの判断は数ヵ月•数年単位で症状や口腔内所見、またレントゲンやCT画像などのデータを注意深く観察してのことになると考えられます。直接拝見してみないと断定的なことは申し上げかねますが…診て下さってる先生と、概ね私も同意見です。
推測になりますが…今後、臼歯まで次々神経が死んでしまうというのは確率的には低いと思われます。また、仮に神経が死んだからと言ってすぐに歯を失うわけではありません。適切な、品質の高い治療を受けておけば、長持ちさせることができる可能性も十分にあります。どうかその点心配され過ぎませんよう。
現時点では、定期検診や必要な際に必要な検査を続けておくことが大切と考えます。
